Mentorship Programme Overview
The REGENT Mentorship Programme connects experienced alumni with current students and recent graduates to foster professional development, career readiness and industry exposure. The programme is designed to support the transition from academic life to the workplace through structured mentorship engagements facilitated by the Employability & Career Services team. Mentorship runs over a semester and typically includes 4–6 structured sessions between mentor and mentee.
Purpose of the Programme
The programme aims to:
- Connect students and graduates with experienced alumni professionals
- Provide career guidance, industry insights, and professional development support
- Strengthen alumni engagement and institutional loyalty
- Build a sustainable professional network within the REGENT community
Programme Structure
Each mentorship cycle runs over a semester and includes:
- A minimum of one structured session per month
- Approximately 4–6 engagements per cycle
- Goal-setting and development planning
- Career and industry discussions
- Professional skills development support
Suggested focus areas may include:
- Career aspirations and development planning
- Industry trends and workplace expectations
- CV and LinkedIn profile review
- Interview preparation
- Personal branding and professional growth
Matching Process
- Mentor–mentee matching is facilitated by the Employability & Career Services team and is based on:
- Field of study
- Career interests
- Professional goals
- Industry alignment
- Availability
Matching is subject to mentor availability and programme suitability.
Roles & Responsibilities
a. Mentors
Mentors are expected to:
- Provide professional guidance and constructive feedback
- Share relevant career experiences and industry insights
- Maintain confidentiality
- Commit to the agreed meeting schedule
- Encourage accountability and goal progression
b. Mentees
Mentees are expected to:
- Prepare for sessions and take initiative
- Set clear personal and professional goals
- Respect the mentor’s time and availability
- Follow through on agreed action steps
Code of Conduct
All participants are required to:
- Maintain professionalism at all times
- Respect confidentiality
- Avoid discrimination, bias, or conflicts of interest
- Honour scheduled meetings and commitments
- Report any concerns to the Programme Coordinator
Programme Support & Orientation
The Employability & Career Services team will:
- Facilitate registrations and matching
- Host an orientation session outlining expectations and guidelines
- Provide a mentorship framework to guide engagements
- Monitor participation and collect feedback
- Provide support where challenges arise
Upon completion of the programme:
- Participants will receive digital certificates
- Mentors may receive recognition through alumni platforms and institutional communications

- Participation in the programme does not guarantee employment.
- Matching is dependent on mentor availability and suitability.
- Contact details are shared only once a match has been formally confirmed.
- The programme may limit the number of participants per cycle.
Interested in becoming a mentor?
Before registering, all prospective mentors are required to complete the short REGENT Mentor Readiness Course. This course will help you understand the mentorship process, your role as a mentor, professional boundaries, confidentiality requirements, and how to support students effectively during the 4–6 session mentorship cycle.
Once you have completed the course, you will be directed to the Mentor Application Form.
