1.4 Social Media Platforms most popularly used by South Africans

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have proven to be the most popularly used social media platforms by South Africans. For the purpose of this course, we will be focusing on Facebook and Instagram platforms only.

These platforms are both social media platforms, however, they each yield results and objectives that may differ from one another.

Facebook is where sales are made and Instagram is where brand awareness can be achieved.

Sales are important because consumers have interacted  with and actioned resulting in profitability. For a business  brand awareness is the ability of the consumer to recognise the business, the product and service offerings, as well as, form a perception about the business.
